HOPE'S HISTORY
HOPE'S HISTORY
Shining Christ's Light Since 1805
"I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago. I will meditate on all your works and consider all your mighty deeds." Psalm 77:11
Our church, as we know it today, is a vibrant and active congregation of close to 300 men, women, youth and children. But did you know that Hope has an amazing history of over 200 years of ministry in Newburyport?
A history team at Hope has poured through our archives to investigate the spiritual heritage of this church and have helped write a series of short vignettes to tell of God's faithfulness and His leading of our congregation. The vignettes center on four themes that define the character and life of our church family:
A Personal Faith Centered in Jesus
A Multi-Generational Family
A Willingness to Obey Christ
A Heart for the World
We have put together a "Visions of Hope" Booklet, the story of our church since 1805 in pictures and text through important events, people, and themes that include the illustrious "Liberator" William Lloyd Garrison.
We are greatly encouraged through this rediscovery of our spiritual heritage and we remember and celebrate what God has done and is continuing to do here in Newburyport.
